Marianne Rico is a Vancouver based artist. In 2016, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design; her work explores ideas of displacement and experience within landscapes. Marianne is interested in placing objects within a landscape, in which their functions change and transform people's ways of seeing in order for them to question reality. The series titled Screens, is an ongoing series of images in which a silk screen is displaced in a forest. By displacing this object within the landscape, the screen’s function changes, becoming a projection, a negative and a secondary image within the image.
“I have always felt displaced being a photographer. Whenever I look through a view finder of a camera, I feel like what I see is unorthodox - what I have photographed is completely unlike what I experienced.”-Marianne Rico
