Originally from the East Coast, Vancouver artist Beverly Ball studied art at Capilino University and Emily Carr University of Art+Design, earning her BFA from Emily Carr University in May 2016.
Beverly Ball has always been fascinated by the physical act of painting. Spontaneity and chance play a key role in her work and are as important as the finished painting. Within each of her paintings, traces of the process are visible and are essential elements of the work. Underneath the surface layer, traces of the discarded image emerge creating a distinct composition that happen by chance. Beverly works primarily in acrylics, using highly individual techniques to create works that are balanced between realist landscapes and pure abstraction. Her sure use of colour and texture produces pieces that are at once beautiful and provocative, drawing the viewer into an unusual and compelling way of seeing.
Beverly's work has been exhibited in public spaces and private buildings throughout the Lower Mainland. Since 2008, she has undertaken several commissions, and her works are held in public and private collections.
